What are we all about?

BonsAI was founded in 2017 as a spin-off of Span’s research and development department. At Span, we worked on all kinds of technology areas from artificial intelligence (AI) to internet of things (IoT), augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR) and blockchain. After a couple of successful AI projects (like Emily - a system used in retail that uses a camera to analyze age, gender and emotions of your customers, giving your valuable insight) we recognized the impact artificial intelligence will have so we decided to focus our efforts on bringing the technology to our customers.

Our purpose is to provide our customers with AI solutions that will drive their business productivity in the sense of automating existing processes that - up until now - relied on human intervention. Whether those are chatbots that automate customer interaction, smart security cameras that can distinguish between employees and visitors or a neural network that can compare handwritten signatures.

Our goal is to bring value to our customers by constantly exploring the AI space and looking for new opportunities using smart machines to handle increasingly complex tasks that were (up until now) reserved for people.

Not all areas are equal candidates for automation, some tasks like people management are not likely to be automated in the near future. We will probably see wider adoption in simpler repetitive tasks, like the before mentioned signature comparison or manufacturing defect detection to name a few. How do we operate?

When starting with artificial intelligence applications, the best course of action is to begin with a small-scale pilot implementation. For example, lets imagine an insurance company wanting to create an intelligent system that would solve car insurance claims. Using historical data (car wreckage images, policy details, holder information) we could design a model that would work for future claims. If we demonstrate a clear value to the customer through a small scale implementation, then we can move to optimize and generalize the system integrating it with customer's IT environment to work on production cases. The insurance company then has a clear ROI on its new AI employee that can work overtime and further learn with experience.

Conclusion

We believe artificial intelligence applications will further drive digital transformation which is already happening with the emergence of cloud and mobile computing. Ever increasing amounts of data that can now be collected and processed by almost limitless amount of cloud computing power and understood through machine learning.
